How can Sport for Social Change (S4SC), sport and physical activity organisations become more sustainable?

Welcome! If you've come to this page, it is likely that you're interested in the above topic.

Over 12 months, I explored this topic as part of my MBA Experiential Learning Capstone Project. The Experiential Learning Project is a capstone course where MBA students are provided with the opportunity to apply a broad range of knowledge of key business concepts, tools and techniques in a practical context. It was anticipated that students would be able to critically evaluate a business problem or opportunity.

Importantly, through the project, students would further enhance their critical thinking, communication and interpersonal capabilities. Students were required to work on their own and be guided by an academic adviser and industry advisers.

Get to know me

Allow me to introduce myself - I am a passionate individual, driven to make a meaningful impact in my community. My mission is to enhance the health and well-being of those around me, while fostering connection and innovation among like-minded individuals.

Recently, my focus has turned towards exploring the sustainability of business models. It all started with my involvement in coordinating several initiatives, only to have them fall apart due to a lack of funding after a short period. This left me wondering - how can we create lasting change in our communities if we can't even sustain the programs that we've worked so hard to establish?

With this burning question in mind, I embarked on a capstone project, "How can Sport for Social Change (S4SC), sport and physical activity organisations become more sustainable?" My findings have been interesting, and I'm excited to share them with you on this dedicated website.

How can Sport for Social Change (S4SC), sport and physical activity organisations become more sustainable?

Sport for Social Change (S4SC) is a sector that supports people to become more physically active and socially connected. One of the challenges the sector faces is sustainability of programs and organisation. This research project sought to respond to the issue of sustainability facing the S4SC sector by exploring the question, ‘how can S4SC, sport and physical activity organisations become more sustainable?

To deliver on aims of this project, two substantive research activities were carried out, including 1) review of academic literature, and 2) online focus group brainstorm with industry practitioners.

I’ll be posting up key insights over the coming months. If you’re interested in the results, please keep an eye on my website or contact me to discuss my findings, subscribe below or contact me on denhuylim@gmail.com.
